Markdown cells

Markdown cells show their rendered form, except while you edit them. Press Enter or i to see the source, Esc to render again.

  • Headings, with levels styled differently.
  • Bold, italic and inline code.
  • Bulleted and numbered lists.
  • Links: the text underlined, followed by the URL.
  • Tables.
  • Fenced code blocks, syntax-highlighted in their language.
  • Inline and display math.
  • Images: cell attachments (images pasted in JupyterLab) and local files, e.g. ![diagram](figures/setup.png). Paths are relative to the notebook.

Remote images (https://…) are not downloaded; their alt text is shown instead. Raw HTML in markdown shows as text.

t cycles the selected cell through code → markdown → latex. The source stays the same; only its type changes. Converting a code cell drops its outputs, as in JupyterLab.
